In our house we can hardly wait for the cakes to cool before cutting into them. We eat my rum cakes just as they are. The cakes are best served at room temperature where you will be able to taste the full flavor. Some like to heat the cakes slices slightly in the microwave and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Others have told me that they like to add a spoonful of fresh whipped cream on the side.  

Because of the moisture in these cakes, please be careful when transferring the pieces or the whole cake from the cake board to a plate. The bottom may stick slightly so slide a cake server underneath when serving. Enjoy!
